A. Roy Bowden

Relationships Consultant

Practice focus:

I am currently seeing men who need personal assistance and mentoring.

I can refer people to colleagues who offer other services for people: counselling, relationships, therapy, cultural connections and social services.

Supervision and mentoring

For practitioners, managers, educators::

I've practised as a supervisor of counsellors, medical personnel, social workers, therapists, middle managers, agency staff, clergy and addiction clinicians since the 1970s. My focus includes practising with an informed consideration of the importance of cultural formation.

The approach is holistic in the sense that the whole of life experience of each person is taken into account. Training in a number of therapeutic and life style theories has been important, but it is important to discover the unique story of each individual and build a helping relationship first.

Sometimes a therapeutic 'method' will be helpful but it needs to be offered as part of an integrated approach aligned with the cultural, social and personal situation surrounding each person, family or group.
